UK Ultimate (UKU) is the National Governing Body for Ultimate in the United Kingdom, and the UK member of WFDF. UKU is recognised by UK Sport and the home country sports councils. UKU has previously run a number of major international Ultimate events in partnership with WFDF, notably the WFDF 2023 WU24 Ultimate Championships, the WFDF 2016 World Ultimate and Guts Championships and the 2015 WU23 Ultimate Championships. UKU has a long history of running events of various sizes around the UK; annually running up to 60 events across all surfaces and divisions, for Club, University and Junior teams.

There are no referees in Ultimate. Spirit of the Game is an overarching term used to describe the way that participants approach the sport of Ultimate. It encompasses core principles of sporting values, knowledge and fair application of the rules, attitude, communication skills, and respect for others. It is critical that players, coaches and fans alike adhere to these principles.

All players should familiarise themselves with the WFDF Rules of Ultimate. Spirit of the Game is, quite literally, the first rule in the book.

“Spirit of the Game is the mindful behaviour practiced by players worldwide prior to, during and after a game. It encompasses attitudes and skills such as good knowledge and application of the rules, fair-mindedness, safe play, and spatial awareness, clear and calm communication, and positive and respectful attitude towards teammates, fans, and opponents, in a mutual effort to protect the basic joy of play.”
