The WJUC trophies are hand-crafted by Ross Bennett.
Ross is a designer, maker and artist who produces all sorts of 3D work for a variety of contexts; sculpture, furniture, bespoke award trophies and more. He works with multiple materials and uses hand-craft techniques as well as digital technologies, and aims to produce work that is well crafted and honest, yet has a little bit of magic that makes it more than the sum of its parts.
The WJUC trophies are made with a bespoke terrazzo mix that includes recycled plastic chips. Terrazzo is a historic Italian method of making floors using waste marble chips mixed into cement. The chips in these are sourced from end of life plastic consumer goods including broken frisbees and lost water bottles that would otherwise have been binned.
